The BMC-10 model is a chassis that can house up to 10 Blackmagic Design® brand Mini Converter units, improving their performance and ease of integration.
The BMC-10 case features two independent power supplies, each with sufficient capacity to provide electrical power to all the equipment housed within the chassis. The power supplies operate redundantly, so in the event of a power outage or internal failure of one of the supplies, the remaining power supply maintains service without interruption. Furthermore, it eliminates the need to power the 10 processors with their own external power supplies, reducing electrical installation costs and simplifying electrical connections by reducing the number of external AC/DC power outlets (with their associated space limitations) from 10 outlets for external power supplies to just two Schuko outlets. Both power outlets are protected by fuses and have independent switches. Additionally, the front panel of the case includes LED indicators for each power supply, showing whether it is functioning correctly or has failed.
Depending on their location and the ambient temperature, Blackmagic Design® Mini Converter processors reach high operating temperatures. Installing several of these units in a confined space, such as in a rack or other types of cabinetry, often leads to a concentration of heat that can cause malfunctions in adjacent equipment or even the Mini Converters themselves. To prevent these problems, the BMC-10 chassis features a forced ventilation system that draws air in from the front of the unit to reduce the internal temperature. Each fan has a filter that can be easily removed from the outside of the chassis for cleaning and maintenance.
With the BMC-10 system, the Blackmagic Design® Mini Converters installed inside the chassis feature model-specific patch panels, mounted on the back like any other modular system. Each panel includes all the connectors for the corresponding processor, conveniently grouped and labeled, including video and audio signals in their various formats, as well as the USB ports for processors that have them, making configuration easily accessible.

In the case of Blackmagic Design® Mini Converters, configurations are performed using a combination of microswitches, and in some cases via software through a USB connection. Enclosing these units in a closed chassis presents a challenge for accessing these configuration systems, but the BMC-10 system provides a solution for both the USB connection and the microswitch manipulation. For the USB connection, all the Mini Converters' wiring is accessible from their rear panels, including the corresponding USB port, allowing easy access for software configuration. Regarding microswitch access, the Mini Converters are positioned within the chassis so that the side of the unit containing the switches is always located just millimeters from the top cover.
